PENNSYLVANIA INDEPENDENT CONSUMERS & FARMERS ASSOC

Do you support a move toward sustainable farming?

Are you interested in where and how your food is grown?

Do you want access to the foods of your choice?

Do you want your food dollars to keep family farming alive and well?

Who We Are:

We are a growing community of concerned Citizens (consumers and farmers) dedicated to freedom of food choice in Pennsylvania and everywhere else. We come together as farmers and consumers of food, unwavering in our commitment to keep the earth sustainable and to keep choice available to every person. To fulfill this,we must fully realize our God-given rights, freedoms, and liberties which are constitutionally secured, protected, and guaranteed to all American State and Federal Citizens.

Our Mission:

To promote and preserve our constitutionally secured, protected, and guaranteed rights, including the right to unregulated direct farmer-to-consumer trade that fosters the availability of locally grown and home produced nutrient rich foods including raw milk and raw milk foods.

We Will Accomplish This By:

· Understanding and protecting our rights

· Requiring our legislators to follow their oath of office stated in the Pennsylvania Constitution (Article 6; Section 3)

· Creating a demand for nutrient dense foods produced by sustainable farming methods through educating consumers about the benefits of purchasing directly from the farmer

· Encouraging farmer to consumer sales and informed communication

· Supporting an economy based on direct marketing and sales

Our Vision:

We see a state abundant with independent farmer-to-consumer trade. The people in Pennsylvania are leading the way in promoting this direct farm trade as we discover the benefits of wholesome food. With the return of holistic sustainable farming, the inherent bond between people will be re-established in the years to come. Naturally, there will be a move toward supporting the farms that provide quality nutrient rich foods and protect the lands which sustain our communities.  The Pennsylvania Independent Consumers and Farmers Association is dedicated to helping lawfully achieve this vision and other important goals.

Interest in traditional food has soared over the past several years. Pennsylvanians are showing an increased attention and appetite for real whole foods. Many of us are realizing the benefits of getting closer to our food source. We take the stand that every Pennsylvania consumer deserves full unregulated access to the farmer of their choice, and we want each of you to stand with us and do whatever you can to promote this freedom. Now is the time to preserve our health and liberty. We are in a position to make a huge difference!

We ask you to work with us to correct the laws in Pennsylvania so they that they support an unregulated farming culture and a consumer’s right to choose. Bit by bit, the state has taken away our right to obtain farm foods by crafting regulations that eliminate our choices and put the small family farm under obscene regulations. They are subtle and sneaky. We want to be bold and clear as we stand firmly for what we believe.

One very serious threat facing small farms today is the USDA’s proposed National Animal Identification System (NAIS). The USDA wants to microchip and track every livestock animal on every farm and home in the United States and register every premises where such an animal lives or passes. Besides the exorbitant cost of this program, the loss of our rights, the stress placed on our animals, and the increased government control, would put small farms out of business. Without small farms, the products we have grown accustomed to enjoying would cease to exist.  We would be totally dependent on huge agri-business for all our food products. Our life and our health would be in their hands. While this benefits huge agribusiness, it will destroy independent farms. PICFA is an association of informed Citizens (farmers and consumers) so that there will be no place for a government controlled NAIS.

We are meeting with our legislators asking them to support legislation for unregulated farmer–to–consumer sales as well as legislation to keep NAIS out of Pennsylvania. The members of the General Assembly need to know how important farms and farming issues are to their constituents, (that means you!) coming together as PICFA gives us greater strength then we have as individuals.

We would like to thank you for your support of holistic farming methods. With your caring actions you are protecting your own health and the health of future generations (your children and grandchildren). We ask that you take a stand with us by becoming a member of PICFA. Get involved now and help us fight for freedom, and liberty, before it is too late!
